A new resources project will rapidly progress in North Queensland.
The State Department of Resources recently renewed four mining leases for Ravenswood Gold’s Ravenswood mine, 133km south of Townsville.
The decision means the operation can stay open for at least another 16 years. It also supports the site’s $350 million expansion.
The project involves lifting processing from 2.5M tonnes per annum (Mtpa) to a 8.4 Mtpa.
A 100Mt tailings storage facility, 12 megawatt ball mill, new fleet of mobile mining equipment, crusher and processing equipment will be required.
Works will support more than 400 employees plus more suppliers from the local region.
“Renewal of our mining leases is another exciting and positive step forward for the future,” Ravenswood Gold CEO Brett Fletcher said in a public statement.
