AIMEX boosts business for the METS sector

Australia’s most extensive mining exhibition – Asia-Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition (AIMEX) has
energised the next era of mining professionals, with early reports recording more than 4,900 attendees for
the event.
AIMEX event director, Brandon Ward, said the event had been a success and had already received
positive feedback from industry decision-makers, key mining personnel and exhibitors.
“Over the duration of the three-day event, we’ve seen thousands of attendees come together to share
insights and generate new business leads, with many orders being written on site.
“We’re thrilled to see an increase in attendance from civil, mechanical and mining engineers in our
preliminary reports, and this certainly highlights the true value of AIMEX to the sector.
“This year’s event welcomed delegates from all parts of the globe, including China, India, Peru, Germany,
Belarus and Thailand, just to name a few.
“It is always encouraging to hear many of our visitors, exhibitors and speakers view AIMEX as an event to
mark in their calendar,” said Mr Ward.
This year, more than 350 companies showcased the latest technologies, developments and products, an
increase in the number of exhibiting companies when compared to the previous exhibition. The line-up
included GM Holden, ContiTech Australia, Insitu Pacific, Hedweld Engineering, Eaton, Mobil Oil Australia,
Renishaw Oceania, Durapac and Global Pumps.
The event featured five pavilions specifically designed for international exhibitors from Germany, China,
Korea, France and USA, with further international representation from Italy, Spain, Russia, Belarus,
Poland, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Indonesia and Taiwan on the exhibition floor.
Throughout AIMEX, visitors were given the opportunity to hear about the latest products and services in
areas including automation, control equipment, engineering, underground mining equipment, minerals
processing, software and fire safety.
As a new addition, the 2017 program saw the inclusion of The Future of Mining conference.
“More than 30 leading experts came together at AIMEX to discuss key topics such as the economic and
political outlook for the mining industry, the latest advancements in automation, technological
advancements in drilling, blasting, processing and bulk materials handling, operational efficiencies, fleet
performance and tyre management, and occupational health and safety.
“The conference agenda echoed the importance of collaboration, innovation and technology development
in the sector and it was great to see the majority of sessions well attended and the plenary sessions each
day packed to capacity.
“Through the conference program, attendees were given the chance to hear from leading experts as to
what the future holds for the sector and the opportunity to ask questions,” said Mr Ward.
The event also saw a number of organisations participate in ‘The Breakthrough,’ a new platform
showcasing emerging technologies that have the ability to provide significant benefit to the mining sector.

Technologies, Orb Engineering Services, Occhio Vision Care and VTEX Industries were among the
companies to showcase their newest products and services to hit the market in the last 18 months.
Major supporters of AIMEX 2017 included the NSW Government Department of Industry, Engineers
Australia, NSW Mining, METS Ignited, Austrade, Austmine, Mining3, Bowen Basin Mining Club and WTIA.
