Australia’s peak oil and gas body, the APPEA, is looking for a new Chief after David Byers tendered his resignation to take up a senior public policy role with BHP.
Byers will take up his new role with BHP in March.
In a statement the APPEA said, “David has made a valuable contribution to APPEA and he has been an extremely effective advocate for our industry since joining the organisation in 2011.”
“The past few years have been a time of great change and growth both for APPEA and the oil and gas industry.”
“The APPEA Board thanks David for his dedication and the Association is committed to continuing the excellent work underway to deliver the safe and environmentally-responsible development of the nation’s oil and gas resources.”
While at the APPEA Byers faced challenging opposition for activist groups opposing coal seam gas activity in both Queensland and New South Wales.
