A resources company will fast-track its mining revival in Queensland’s Cook Shire.
Revolver Resources recently confirmed it would use new funding to quickly reopen its Dianne Project, 260km northwest of Cairns.
The proponent has already secured a a $1.3 million grant from the State Government’s Critical Minerals and Battery Technology Fund. The money will help cover the cost of the following components:
- solvent extraction/electrowinning process engineering design including column-scale leach testwork, structural, mechanical, process infrastructure electrical design, crushing and agglomeration circuit design, and final process flow diagram and process and instrumentation design
- site engineering design which includes civil and earthworks design, supporting studies and environmental management plan integrated design.
Once a positive recommencement decision is reached production could start in less than 12 months. An estimated 23 new full-time jobs, 10 apprenticeships and traineeships will be created in the process.
“This non-dilutive funding source enables us to rapidly unlock the final feasibility pathway towards a targeted recommencement of mining operations at Dianne within the next 12 to 18 months,” Revolver managing director Pat Williams said in a public statement.
The operation has been closed since 1983 and once produced 63,758 tonnes of ore with an average 22.7 per cent copper grade – the highest in national history.
