Remote employees could be stuck due to industrial action.
Hundreds of fly-in fly-out (FIFO) workers are expected to be stranded due to an ongoing pay dispute.
The Australian Federation of Air Pilots confirmed up to 211 Qantas pilots will go on strike for more favourable enterprise agreement terms.
From 4 October 2023 at least 50 Network Aviation and QantasLink FIFO flights will be disrupted for 24 hours. A further 300 private charter, emergency freight and weekly routes are also likely to be impacted across regional Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
“Our proposed agreement offers our pilots significant pay rises and more guaranteed days off each roster period, and we are disappointed the Australian Federation of Air Pilots has chosen to move towards industrial action while we have been trying to negotiate,” a QantasLink spokesperson said according to the Australian Associated Press.
Qantas previously agreed to increase pay by between 13 and 20 per cent from mid-October, with back-pay and annual salary increments of 3 per cent.
