Did you know that when you are flying with Skytrans you are “flying with a Queenslander”?
Skytrans is 100 per cent Queensland owned and operated and proud to be supporting jobs across this great state and have our main operating base in Cairns along with bases in Horn Island, Townsville, Rockhampton and Brisbane.
The Skytrans story is one of passion and commitment to the Queensland economy built over many years of hard work commencing services in 1990 as a charter operator that soon grew and commenced Regular Passenger Transport (RPT) in 1993 operating routes predominantly across the Cape of Queensland.
In 2015 Skytrans was purchased by Collings Holdings headed by Peter Collings and NRL rugby legend Jonathan Thurston and proudly employ over 110 Queenslanders with over 10 per cent indigenous workers making up the Skytrans family.
As a high capacity commercial airline we are certified and audited by CASA to the same standard as the major airlines and hold gold BARS accreditation, so all passengers travelling with Skytrans are flying with the utmost of safety across our fleet.
Along with our commercial flights, we have been supporting the resource sector with FIFO requirements for decades. Our fleet of 5 Dash 8-100 and 2 Dash 8 Q300 aircraft have been a proven machine for many years, being able to service the specific requirements of mining operations to both sealed and unsealed runways with short strip capability. Getting workers to and from site in the shortest amount of time is something Skytrans understands well to provide our customers the safest service to reduce fatigue of workers and getting them home to their families sooner.
2023 is set to be a big year ahead for Skytrans with a recent announcement of a 5 year deal servicing the Bowen Basin from Rockhampton and Townsville and have acquired 2 Dash 8 Q300 aircraft with a seating capacity of 50 to support our clients needs. This has been a clear example of our vision and expertise to tailor solutions for our customers and create valuable partnerships in the sector to meet the growing and demanding needs of mining companies.
Being a Queensland owned company and the only airline in Australia that connects the outer islands of the Torres Strait to Cairns we know the importance of community and show our support in numerous ways by sponsoring and supporting many community events across the Cape and Torres Strait. Bringing local sporting groups together for camps and carnivals is something we strongly advocate bringing remote communities together. The Cairns Indigenous Art Festival held each year is another initiative we support strongly by bringing local artists from across the region to showcase their skills and talents at this premier event for indigenous culture.
We are a major partner of the Cairns-based QRL team the Northern Pride who are looking ahead to a great season in 2023. The club’s territory reaches from Cairns to the Torres Strait and we are proud to be able to connect the club to the region and enable some incredible initiatives of coaching, training and access for community members to a premier rugby club.
Skytrans are looking to the future to reduce our carbon footprint in an initiative partnering with one of Australia’s leading organisations producing hydrogen electric power systems. We recognise that the environment that we operate in can benefit from reduced harmful emissions that aviation contributes to, so by partnering with leading manufacturers, our privately owned and operated airline is leading the way toward a zero emission future of aviation travel.
Our team of experts are in the business of providing safe, fast and reliable air travel to the remotest parts of Queensland and beyond so whether your business is looking for short or long term solutions for your operation, Skytrans can tailor a package for your charter needs, “Fly With A Queenslander” today.
