Mines Minister Dr Anthony Lynham today welcomed the commissioning of Santos’ $400 million Scotia Project in the Bowen basin near Roma in south-west Queensland.
“This is further fixed capital investment in our $70 billion LNG industry, that supports 7000 oil and gas jobs, generates billions in revenue including $9.8 billion in LNG exports over the 12 months to February 2018,” he said.
“Petroleum royalties alone are forecast to be $151 million in 2017-18, growing to $328 million in 2020-21.
“This helps sustain our regional communities, and puts doctors and nurses in hospitals and teachers into schools, now and into the future.”
Santos today announced the successful commissioning and start-up of the Scotia CF1 project. The project has created 400 jobs and has involved expanding Santos’ existing compression plant and infrastructure, more wells and Scotia project, which has been producing since 1992.
