Sydney (Australia), Wednesday, 29 March 2023 –
Coal Services is pleased to announce the appointment of two senior leaders to NSW Mines Rescue.
In a changing of the guard, Alaster Wylie is the new General Manager of NSW Mines Rescue and Regulation & Compliance. This follows the recent appointment of his predecessor, Wayne Green, to the role of Chief Operating Officer. Lachlan Grant has been appointed to the role of State Operations Manager.
“Over the last four years Alaster has proven himself as the NSW Mines Rescue State Operations Manager. He has been instrumental in driving a more contemporary operating model, uplift in culture, improved financial results and consistent governance practices. I am confident that he will continue to build on these successes and provide the right strategic leadership to Mines Rescue and Regulation & Compliance to ensure their long and sustainable future,” said Wayne Green, Coal Services Chief Operating Officer.
“As Northern Operations Manager, Lachlan has been responsible for overseeing the implementation of significant business improvements across the region. He has also contributed to the consulting services offered by Mines Rescue Consulting where he has assisted with large projects domestically and internationally. He brings the right mixture of expertise, experience and dedication from his previous roles.”
“It is my privilege to continue to work with both Alaster and Lachlan, albeit in a different capacity. It should give our business and the industry great comfort to know that the portfolios are in good hands,” he added.
Both Alaster and Lachlan have extensive experience in underground coal mining operations.
Alaster commenced his career at Metropolitan mine in 2005 and joined Coal Services in 2019 as the State Operations Manager for NSW Mines Rescue. Alaster was also a Mines Rescue brigade member for more than 11 years and captained the Metropolitan rescue team from 2014 for five years.
Lachlan started in the industry as a Graduate Mining Engineer with Xstrata Coal. He joined Coal Services in 2018 where his previous roles with Mines Rescue included Business Development Manager and Training Coordinator.
