IMARC 2024 is set to unite the global mining community once again from October 29-31 at ICC Sydney, marking a significant event for Queensland’s mining sector. As the largest mining conference in Australia, IMARC continues to attract C-level executives, procurement experts, site managers, and technical specialists eager to engage with the latest industry developments and innovations.
This year’s event is expected to host over 600 speakers and draw more than 9,000 delegates, underscoring its importance for the mining sector. The 20,000m² exhibition space will feature state-of-the-art mining technologies, equipment, and solutions, alongside a full agenda of keynotes, panels, and live demos—all tailored to address the sector’s evolving priorities.
Austmine, a key founding partner of IMARC, has helped shape the event over the past decade. Vanessa Haberland, Austmine’s Director of Membership, Marketing, and Events, highlighted how the conference has evolved from a national focus to a truly global platform for mining advancements.
Attracting participants from over 120 countries, IMARC emphasizes innovation and sustainability, strengthened by partnerships with global entities like the European Union and the World Economic Forum. AusIMM, Australia’s peak body for resources professionals, remains a major supporter. AusIMM CEO Stephen Durkin noted that over 130 members are set to drive discussions on cutting-edge technologies, ESG best practices, and mining’s role in global energy transformation.
The Plenary Theatre, sponsored by Newmont, will host industry leaders such as Fortescue CEO Dino Otranto and South32 CEO Graham Kerr, who will discuss ESG strategies and sustainability goals. Holly Ransom, the Plenary MC, will guide discussions featuring insights from key figures like Jake Klein and Leanne Heywood.
Key themes this year include digital transformation, AI integration, and sustainability advancements. Presentations by Mark O’Brien of CITIC Pacific Mining and Flavia Tata Nardini, CEO of Fleet Space Technologies, will cover AI’s role in mining operations and space exploration technologies.
Sydney’s hosting of IMARC for the third consecutive year highlights its role as the largest professional business event in 2024. Lyn Lewis-Smith, CEO of Business Events Sydney, emphasized that IMARC not only drives critical ESG discussions but also supports Queensland’s economic growth through collaboration, innovation, and investment. The event is projected to generate $17.8 million in direct economic benefits for New South Wales.
