Production Metallurgist
Galaxy Resources Limited has a Metallurgist role available at the Mt Cattlin mine ore processing plant.Starting in Production Metallurgy with rotation through Process Metallurgy and Project Metallurgy, the role can be either residential 5/2 (preferably) or FIFO from Perth on a 5/2, 5/2, 10/4 roster.

The role and its requirements
Reporting to the Processing Manager as Production Metallurgist, you will be accountable for the day to day production management of the Mt Cattlin processing plant. You will be responsible for leading and engaging the processing team to ensure safety and cost-effective production targets are met.
The experience you have accumulated will show you are practical, can plan effectively, analyse and problem-solve, as well as demonstrate very good communications skills. You will have initiative and as required be prepared to be hands-on in assisting the operations when needed.
Your key responsibilities will include
- To ensure the processing plant achieves production targets as set out by the Process Metallurgist to meet the business requirements through process control and continuous improvement efforts
- Determine course of action for plant adjustments to achieve quality specifications
- Mentor stakeholders and team members in key metallurgical principles as well as streamline operations across teams
- Identify process improvements through plant adjustments and engineering innovations, and facilitate their implementation
- Focal point to Process Team Leaders and various stakeholders to ensure task priorities are set and optimised
Requirements of the role
- Extensive production management exposure on fixed plant ore processing facilities, ideally with Dense Media Separation or similar experience
- Optimisation of production, recovery and utilisation of fixed plant assets
- Tertiary qualification in metallurgy or related field
- Familiar with process control systems – CITECT will be an advantage
- Sound and demonstrable safety leadership skills
- Highly motivated and organised with a hands-on approach
- Proficient user of MS Office tools, Word and Excel. Pronto experience beneficial
- Proven skill in continuous improvement, ability to assess, design and implement improvements
