A mine worker has been killed near Consolidated Minerals’ Woodie Woodie manganese mine in the Pilbara of Western Australia.
The fatality occurred yesterday on a mining tenement during exploration activities, south of the Woodie Woodie mine site.
In a statement Director of Mine Safety Andrew Chaplyn said, “The accident involved a fitter who was working a dozer being used to clear land for exploration drilling.”
The DMP along with WA police are currently investigating the incident and the family of the deceased has been informed.
Managing Director of Consolidated Minerals Australia, Paul Muller said: “This is a very sad occurrence and our thoughts go out to the family, friends and work mates of the person involved.”
