Boggabri Coal and Whitehaven have been slapped with a number of fines by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment for environmental infringements.
Boggabri received two penalty notices for $3000, for the clearing of 7.7 hectares of native vegetation outside the approved disturbance boundary, and for not notifying the DPE of the clearing event.
Whitehaven was also hit with two separate fines for actions at its Maules Creek and Tarrawonga coal mines.
At Maules Creek they were fined $3000 for not implementing its approved biodiversity management plan, and another $3000 for not implementing its approved flora and fauna management plan at its Tarrawonga coal mine.
