A mining giant will embrace every opinion about its operations.
BHP recently invited every employee to give their candid views on the business.
“There is no such thing as a bad idea unless you keep it to yourself,” the company said in a public statement.
“Worse still, is the inability for people to share ideas in an inclusive environment free from prejudice or judgement … [and] diversity of thought is the understanding that there is more than one way to think about something.”
Some conditions apply including feedback needs to be submitted through the proponent’s Think and Act Differently platform, which is promised to facilitate open discussion. Comments can be freely made under the protection of workplace diversity.
“We all have inherent and acquired traits. For example our age, gender, ethnicity, disability, neurodiversity, race, and sexual orientation, as well as work experience, academic background, time spent abroad and expertise status. [They] all shape the origins of our opinion,” the company said.
“Workplace diversity, supported by an inclusive culture, brings improved efficiency, productivity, innovation, creativity and employee engagement.”
