Safety Saves Perth For The Fourth Time

[hr]Safety returns to Western Australia in 2014! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to learn from the leading experts in workplace safety, at Safety in Action Perth, June 11 and 12 at Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre.[hr]

The two-day event will mark Safety in Action’s fourth time in Perth and will feature a comprehensive range of the latest safety-related products and services from across Australia.

With over 150 exhibitors from across the industry under one roof, Safety in Action Perth is the place to discover the most comprehensive range of safety products and services in the region.

Safety in Action Perth will also provide attendees with unique opportunities to hear from the industry’s most innovative and safety-conscious brains through the extensive program of free seminars on offer.

With a population of 1.9 million, the need for safety within Western Australia is only becoming greater and Safety in Action Perth aims to cater for the hundreds of thousands in employment wanting to stay safe.

Perth has experienced radical economic growth in recent years with a number of booming industries including mining and construction expanding rapidly, and with the growth of mining production up 192% and construction also up 134%, it is the industry’s duty to ensure the safety of their workers.

Given the state’s focus on their large and lucrative mining industry in conjunction with Western Australia’s Safety Reform Strategy, it comes as no surprise that the two-day exposition will be an essential event for all mining businesses.

Recently, the Western Australian Government has committed to overhauling the way safety and health in the resources industry are regulated, with the Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) coordinating the project, also known as Reform and Development at Resources Safety (RADARS).

RADARS emphasises the need to redefine the cultural mindset surrounding three specific areas – mining and exploration; petroleum and geothermal energy, and dangerous goods. In order to save lives and reduce injuries, industry, the regulator and employees must work together to ensure that a resilient safety culture is encouraged and maintained.

The value of the mineral and petroleum industry alone repeats its weighty significance in Australia’s largest state, totaling $102 billion in 2012-13. In light of this big business, and the government’s focus on the Safety Reform, Safety in Action Perth could not come at a more appropriate time.

Leading manufacturers exhibiting include ATOM, Mayo Hardware and Toyota Material Handling WA – displaying their Toyota ‘SpotMe’ intersection warning system to help improve forklift safety in busy warehouses.

The free to attend program will open on June 11, with Simon Ridge (Safety of Department of Mines & Petroleum WA), Nicole Roocke (Chamber of Minerals & Energy Western Australia) and Tom Martin (Norton Rose Fulbright) leading the panel discussion on Mine Safety.

The new and improved safety seminars will be led by sponsors Workplace Access & Safety. Managing Director, Carl Sachs will lead the Are you ready for the revised AS1657 on walkways, ladders and platforms? session, which will deal with the major changes to the Australian standard that safety professionals need to consider.

This is an outstanding opportunity for any professionals involved in safety to keep up-to-date within a constantly changing and evolving industry. Whether you’re out on site or in the office, Safety in Action Perth will be an invaluable resource to help keep your workplace safe.

With Safety in Action, Informa Exhibitions Australia will continue to deliver the high-quality trade shows that have made these events the big-calendar dates for safety industry professionals.

Attendance is free so secure your place at the event online now.
