A new nudibranch species discovered off the Western Australian coast has been named after fly-in fly-out workers.
The Moridilla fifo is a brightly coloured orange sea slug, likened to mine workers high-vis clothing.
The name was chosen by ABC radio listeners during National Science Week.
The sea creature was discovered 16 years ago by WA Museum aquatic zoology senior research scientist Nerida Wilson while diving off the Dampier coast, according to The West Australian.
