Third of employers admit to shelving ethics, sustainability says poll

A survey found many businesses still have not implemented environmental, social and governance (ESG) targets.

Almost three out of 10 businesses recently made no significant progress in achieving their ESG ambitions. This is the conclusion a poll reached after questioning 800 delegates attending a Procurement and Supply Australasia (PASA) conference on 15 and 16 November 2022.

The study conducted by Coupa Software discovered 28 per cent of respondents do not work for an organisation with ESG targets. The remainder claimed they did.

When asked whether their employer had already exceeded both ethical and sustainability goals, an overwhelming 88 per cent said “no”.

“The challenge we are seeing technology has not been put in place with ESG front of mind. How are you meant to drive positive ESG impact without having the right tools in place?” Coupa account executive Charles Glenn said according to the PASA website.
